Artificial intelligence can help induce remission of diabetes

Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Its treatment and maintenance of optimal blood sugar levels are exhausting for the patient and his family. Especially for patients with type 1 diabetes.

Artificial intelligence technology is now making it easier to treat diabetic patients according to the latest research, especially during pandemics.

Diabetes is a disease in which the body is unable to produce insulin normally. Insulin deficiency leads to hyperglycemia. This is a condition in which blood glucose levels rise above normal. Persistent hyperglycemia in patients with diabetes leads to complications. This is accompanied by blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, strokes, amputation, and death.

There are three main types of diabetes. Type 1 diabetes, or juvenile diabetes, also known as insulin-dependent diabetes, occurs at an early age. Type 2 diabetes, also known as insulin-independent diabetes, occurs at an older age. Gestational diabetes occurs in women during pregnancy. Women may or may not be able to overcome it after giving birth.

As a diabetic, blood sugar levels should be monitored regularly. In addition, physical activity and diet must be planned according to the current state of the diabetic patient. The NextDREAM Consortium group has developed an automated decision support system based on artificial intelligence algorithms - DreaMed Advisor to make life easier for diabetic patients.

Developers have already conducted a six-month study to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of DreaMed Advisor. In that study, they compared the effectiveness of the advice provided by the artificial intelligence-based decision support system to the advice provided by physicians.

The study was published in the journal Nature Medicine.

Research has shown that DreaMed Advisor software can help control blood sugar levels in diabetic patients. Roughly the same way a doctor with diabetes experience could do it.

DreaMed Advisor, as artificial intelligence-based decision support technology, provides a standard way to manage insulin therapy for patients with diabetes. What's more, it acts as a full-time personal medical advisor, especially ideal for patients with type 1 diabetes.

And of course the unchanged on the market remains Freestyle Libre, but they need to be cared for. The sensor can be effectively secured by using freestyle libre covers.
