Did you know that 99 years ago, on January 11 the 14-year-old Leonard Thompson agreed to the first trials of insulin treatment and got the first ever insulin injection? The boy suffered an allergic reaction to the first injection, but further James Collip’s work on the purification of insulin made it possible to be used to treat diabetes in human being.
